How Am I Doing? Screening is on, go for it!
OOC Permissions:
Physical Affection: Yes - generally the twins are VERY touchy with family and friends, unless said family/friend has told them to stop, strangers not really, but they will stand uncomfortably close for kicks, sometimes.
Physical Violence: Yes - Elladan WILL fight back and he's not afraid to fight dirty
Romantic Attachments: The twins have each other and have never really looked for romantic attachments, although they probably do flirt for fun, without Elrohir, Elladan might be amenable - convince him!
Mental Manipulation: Yes with the caveat that elves are sorta telepathic, and he's got Galadriel as a grandma, he'll have considerable mental defences to read him without permission
Fourth Walling: I'd prefer no one told him he was fictional but the thing about living forever is that he probably IS a story to half the humans he knows, and he knows it
Triggers: none ICly, unless you count orcs triggering him into wanting to KEEL DEM ALL and OOCly I'll say stop if it gets too uncomfortable
Other: I backtag into infinity, no really, and I don't mind threadjacking either
IC Permissions:
ELVES ARE SORTA TELEPATHIC EXCEPT NOT REALLY thank you Professor. Basically he can. Skim surface thoughts, at need. He's probably got a 'sense' for how honest/dishonest/good/bad you're being. Please to let me know if this is a problem or how far he can go! He's not likely to actually start mindreading you however.

Name: Elladan Elrondion
Canon: Tolkien
Canon Point: October 30th TA 3018 Hunting the Nazgul to clear the way for the Fellowship after the Council of Elrond
Sex/Gender: Male
Actual Age/Apparent Age: born TA 130, at current pull point he's 2888, immortal elf who looks in his 20s (and still fairly young, as elves go! Not even into his third millenium yet)
Belongings: His armor, a sword, a bow & full quiver, a silver-grey cloak closed with a star pin, first aid kit (bandages, needle and thread, some basic herbs/mixes - probably willowbark for pain, yarrow and witch hazel for bleeding and antiseptic, plantain for burns, comfrey for general rashes and healing, a teeny bottle of miruvor)
Skills and Powers:
Standard Elf Abilities:
(1) immortal (by which we mean: does not physically age, and not: cannot be killed)
(2) better senses than humans (sight, hearing, smell)
(3) better endurance than humans, but less than your typical full-blood elf
(4) very light footed (walks on snow)
(5) something almost like telepathy-but-not-quite (basically they have very good discernment of your intentions, which in someone like Galadriel does actually veer into definite telepathy but she's rather an exception)
(6) glowing (but less than someone born in Aman like Galadriel and DEFINITELY less than Glorfindel who is a walking night-light)
(7) talks to trees/animals/rocks/everything-basically (Elladan is actually REALLY BAD at this)
Other:
(1) a warrior - probably very similar to the Dunedain, considering that he hung with rangers, and perhaps a little old fashioned, considering Glorfindel - swords & bows
(2) basic (and probably not all that basic considering Dad) battlefield first aid
(3) prrrrrrrrobably has some form of twin-telepathy - not "hearing" but more "sensing"
Bookmark Description:
It is probably identical to Elrohir's =p
History and Personality:
Elladan and Elrohir are born TA 130 to Elrond and Celebrian, and presumably have a fairly idyllic childhood, growing up in a long period of peace. Erestor and Glorfindel are likely their teachers and in TA 241 they are granted a baby sister - Arwen. As they grow they spend a lot of time with the Dunedain Rangers, and in TA 2059 their mother Celebrian is captured by orcs. They save her, but she is so badly wounded that she Sails (by grave or ship but every elf will be drawn west one day. Celebrian just went sooner.). In grief and rage, the twins turn and spend the next several centuries fighting and hunting every orc they can find. Mostly, they spend their time with the Dunedain, and become both well known and well liked in the hidden villages of the last of the Anorian Rangers, and form friendships with many of the Chieftains and their people. In TA 2993, however, the last heir of Isildur, Aragorn son of Arathorn, is left fatherless at a very young age after his father is killed by an arrow to an eye while on patrol (note that the twins were in this patrol, and likely hold considerable guilt for not being able to save Arathorn), and unwell with the plague sweeping through the villages. It is decided that the best solution will be to hide him - so the twins escort his mother and the child back home, to Imladris. The child's name is changed to Estel as a safety precaution, and suddenly, the twins have a younger brother. They are Estel's playmates and guardians and later his teachers, and it is likely they went with him when he returned to his people as Aragorn, at least to be nearby when he needed help. During the War of the Ring, they were amongst those who scouted the lands to clear the path for the Fellowship (indeed they were the ones who went the furthest and came back last barring Aragorn alone), and they rode with the Dunedain to bring their sister's banner to Aragorn to come to the aid of Gondor. They were also there at her wedding to their foster brother, and when Elrond and Galadriel sailed, they remained behind, delaying their choice of immortality or mortality, and ruling in Imladris with Celeborn, their grandfather.
Let me divert slightly to explain - the twins, and indeed, Arwen also, are what their world call "Peredhel" or half-elven (although the actual percentage of human blood is actually quite small - 17.75% as some hardcore fans worked out. Also of enduring hilarity to me is that they all clearly identify Noldor but by blood are actually more Sindar, but moving on.) This is a status granted to only one family - the line of Earendil the Mariner and his wife Elwing, who were the very first (and only) of those of mortal/immortal blended lines to be granted the choice as to which kindred they identified with as a reward for the trials they went through. Essentially, Earendil's family are all ones of Fate and Destiny and so on, and most go on become people in stories. Considering Earendil and Elwing are their grandparents, this must have had some effect on the twins personalities.
For all the twins are identical in face, they were likely not so in personality, as reflected in their names - Elven names traditionally have prophetic connotations, being an insight into their personality, looks, talents, or even future fate. This was particularly true of the mother-name, as the mother was said to have a greater insight into her children, carrying them for a year as she did. While it was a Noldor naming tradition to give both a mother and a father name, it is likely that Celebrian, coming as she did from Galadriels and Celeborn, had some powers of preception herself, at least enough to name her children truly. 'Elladan' means 'Elf-Man', a reference to his peredhil heritage, but also a pointer as to his inclinations. Probably, Elladan identified stronger with his mortal heritage - faster to temper, but also to forgive, more passionate, impetuous and impatient than his timeless kin. Born in a time of peace, he came to war late, but by all suggestions he took to it well, and threw himself wholeheartedly into it. He has a temper, and can hold grudges. He is sometimes considered the elder twin (his name is usually mentioned first) which probably produced a sense of responsibility. He hides his pain beneath smiles and jokes. He is devoted to his brother. (It is possible the twins are not actually twins at all, but considering they have the same birth year and elven pregnancies take a full 12 months and normally happen decades apart due to the strain it puts on the parents, it would be highly unlikely for them not to be. Also there is a history of twins in their family)

[ A pair of bright grey eyes fills the screen and then they pull back to a face that some in the Library will find very familiar. Identical even. ] Well! This is a strange thing indeed - Elrohir, if this is some prank of yours, I must insist you show me how it is done! Also, my brother, if you are not nearby I will be most upset with you for dumping me and leaving me with only this strange device! [ The bright smile hides the very real concern - Where is his brother? And more importantly, where on Arda is he? ] Estel? This isn't one of yours, I don't think - far too elaborate. And definitely not yours, Leafling!
...Erestor? Glorfindel? .... Ada?
Third Person/Prose:
The last time he saw her she was wan and pale, nothing like the vivacious elleth of his childhood. The silver hair that was her namesake lay flat and white, and only made her look old, cropped short as it was. She smiled for them, but it was empty, and he smiled back and waved good bye, and watched the lost, broken look in his father's eyes as he let his wife go where he could not yet follow. And he hated. Oh, how he hated. It was a poison that dug its claws in deep and he let it, rejoicing in the boiling fury that replaced the aching numbness of loss and failure. His brother and he had not even followed their father home, leaving the minute the ship was out of sight to go hunting.
Take care of your father was in the letter she left behind, in shaky handwriting so unlike her normal script.
"Sorry nana." He murmurs softly, hands tracing the letters. "I wasn't very good at that bit, in the end."
